Make a difference

We just never know when something we say or do is going to be that pivotal moment in someone’s life that changes it forever.  But you have to believe that in order to know that what we say and do can make a difference.  I held on to MB as she let me see more, as she started to let the walls down a little as she let the tears come also.  It was a small gesture on my part, something that was easily given and could have been so easily not given, that may have made her a little more at ease and know that she can trust me.  Hopefully she will come to the conclusion that holding on to it makes us tired and even though I am better at giving than receiving, we need to make a difference in someone else’s life.  One of my kids, TB, was given an opportunity on Friday that may have opened some doors for him that could lead to even more doors for his future.  I called his parents to tell them that what he was going to tell him was the truth and that they should be very proud of him.  The right person at the right time can make all of the difference in the world.  The interesting thing is that it usually doesn’t require a lot of effort, but it does require that we take chances and give more and try harder.  I know Rocky makes a difference in those ladies lives’ who come in not know what they need or what they can wear…Rock has a knack for being honest but always wanting you to look your best.  We all can make a difference in others lives that is positive and will move you to repay that favor to someone else, even when you are not sure when or how.  You also may think that nothing you say or do will mean that much to someone else…but I am here to tell you that it can.  I have seen it.  I am living it.  It would be impossible for to explain how I got here without mentioning several people, but I know that Rocky has made the biggest difference in my life since I met her.  Yes, I have told her this and she knows it so this is not a surprise to her.  I never thought one chance encounter could bring me to where I am today.  I am fairly sure that she would say the same.  This is when you pledge to yourself that you will try to do one thing…even if it is little and no one ever sees it…every day that will make a difference in someone else’s life.  Even when you think you can’t…you will.  Take the time and effort to do something.   “Life is not about any particular achievement or experience.  The most important task of your life is not what you do, but who you become.” – John O
